Course Description:
This course will equip you with powerful reading and writing skills, grounded in the principles of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL). 
Each lesson is designed to help you plan, monitor, and reflect on your learning and turbocharge your approach to these vital academic skills. By the end of this course, you’ll have a toolkit of advanced strategies for tackling the reading demands of your subjects and, equipped with our fantastic 10-Step Writing Process, you'll be able to achieve at the highest level on any writing assignment, regardless of whether you are in high school, university, or beyond. We hope you're excited to begin your journey!

By the end of this course, you will be able to:


  • Identify precisely what high achievement in your subjects or course requires of you; you will have a 'roadmap' to success 
  • Apply cognitive task analysis to turbocharge your academic performance on any task
  • Read effectively, with a targeted purpose for your reading in mind, and better apply what you learn from academic texts to your assignments
  • Apply a 'loop' writing process that will help you manage writing tasks efficiently and write with sophistication






About your course developer:

Sandra Forrest has spent 32 years developing Study Skills programmes underpinned by decades of research in the field of Self-Regulated Learning, including her own doctoral research. She also draws on cognitive behavioural science and neuroscience to ensure the why's, what's and how's of learning are all comprehensively integrated into the strategies her programmes emphasise. Sandra isn't just driven by her passionate belief in hidden potential and confidence that a self-regulated approach can unlock that potential; she's driven by the knowledge that excellence is a habit, achievable by anyone who is ambitious enough to learn how to learn.
